Brick facade and masonry work
Load-bearing masonry and a clay-brick facade for a multi-unit residential building, including lintels and openings.
MasonryOverview
Load-bearing masonry and a clay-brick facade for a multi-unit residential building, including lintels and openings. The structure and facade are being built in step with the wider project.
The brief
The facade has to read as a clean, regular brick pattern while the masonry behind it carries load and frames the window and door openings accurately.
What we did
How we did it
Set-out
We set out the walls and openings from the structural drawings so the facade pattern stays regular.
Load-bearing masonry
The structural masonry is being built with lintels placed over the openings as the walls rise.
Brick facade
The clay-brick facade is being laid to a consistent bond and joint across the elevations.
Detailing
Movement joints and opening details are being completed as each elevation is finished.
Where it stands
The masonry and facade are going up in step with the build; the elevations completed so far show the clean, regular brickwork the design calls for.
